CTMH's Technique Blog Hop - Let's Interact

Hello and welcome to CTMH's Technique Blog Hop. This week our featured technique is "Interacting".We are focusing on artwork that has a type of element that "interacts" with us. Whether it be flaps, windows, moving embellishments, etc.

If you have just joined us you can start here and continue on, as this is a circular hop or if you get lost along the way you can start at the beginning with Melissa's Blog as she has the complete list. If you came here from SASSY'S CREATIONS you are in the right place. Now on to my project:

I know the lighting isn't very good, sorry about that. So I made this layout as a title page for my Across Canada album using the new Magical Paper Pack. It's hard to tell but the background page is the white triangle B&T page. The interactive part of the layout is the little car that moves across the map. I cut a slit in the page protector and sewed two buttons together to make it a sturdy moving piece. Here is a close up:

So I had originally planned on making a layout with old product and a layout with new products. Because sometimes I feel like everyone just gets caught up in the new and forget to use up the old. That is why for the next few blog posts I plan on challenging myself to doing a layout with the old and one with the new.

Let's face it we all have scraps or even full packs of old paper packs from CTMH that you just love and want to use on projects but you keep on using the new stuff and that's fantastic because our stuff is AWESOME. Problem is though sometimes we just need some ideas on ways to use old product. Here is a fall layout I made using our old paper pack called Claire.

I had A LOT of photos of our time at the pumpkin patch and so I needed to find an alternative to making the layout look too crowded. I didn't want to make more than a 2 page spread so I used 4x6 flip flaps and used the FUSE TOOL to cut and fuse the pockets to make them 4x4. Then I made a fun interactive "book type" on the right hand page. My 2 year old just loves this layout.

Here is a closer look:

I also had a great time coloring in the stamped images to make this page. :) I cut slits in the memory protectors for the flip flaps to slide through. I preferred that look instead of gluing them to the outside of the pages. You can read how to cut slits in your pages in THIS blog post. You can also view another interactive layout I did for Easter. Here's a quick look at the page.

  5. Great layouts. I like how you used buttons as the sliding piece as I have always used pennies but some times they are too big.
